The SETGyC (Spanish Society of Gene and Cell Therapy) is a scientific and educational association with ambitious objectives focused on promoting research, development, and application of gene and cell therapy in Spain. These objectives include:
- Promoting Original Research: Foster original research in gene and cell therapy, as well as the adaptation of new related techniques. This involves promoting scientific advancements in these areas to contribute to the expansion of knowledge and therapeutic applications.
- Establishing a Forum for Encounter: Create a meeting space for professionals involved in gene and cell therapy. This forum will facilitate the exchange of knowledge, collaboration, and the joint development of innovative therapeutic strategies.
- Contributing to Knowledge Dissemination: Disseminate and share knowledge about various aspects of gene and cell therapy among healthcare professionals. The aim is to facilitate the implementation of these new treatment forms and improve understanding of advances and limitations in these areas.
- Serving as a Reference for Society: Act as a reference point for society to explain what gene and cell therapy involve, the advances and limitations that occur, and, in general, address any issues that may arise.
- Acting as an Interlocutor with Authorities: Serve as an intermediary with the Spanish administration to provide technical and scientific advice on regulations, criteria, and evaluations directly or indirectly affecting gene and cell therapy-related issues.
To achieve these ambitious goals, active participation from basic researchers, translational medicine experts, clinical colleagues, industry representatives, regulatory bodies, and public and private funding organizations is crucial. Only through our collective effort can we effectively drive research and development in gene and cell therapies. Therefore, I invite you to join the ESGCT as an active member and regularly participate in our activities and congresses.
