Antonio Molina is a Full Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the Department of Biotechnology and Plant Biology at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) and a group leader at the Centre for Plant Biotechnology and Genomics (CBGP: www.cbgp.upm.es), a Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence (SO: 2017-2021 and 2022-2025). He served as the Director of CBGP from 2016 to 2024 and is currently the Scientific Director of the CBGP-SO program. Dr. Molina's research focuses on the study of plant immunity and its applications in crop protection (Research Overview), particularly on the role of the cell wall in triggering immune responses and disease resistance. He has been actively involved in innovation and technology transfer in collaboration with national and international companies, resulting in several patents exclusively licensed to firms and the commercialization of agrobiological products. Dr. Molina is the co-founder of PlantResponse Biotech, a CBGP spin-off acquired by the multinational Mosaic Company (USA). He is also a co-founder of FAIR Data Systems (fairdata.systems), a CBGP spin-off. Most recently, he co-founded NDiscovery SL, another CBGP spin-off focused on developing novel agrobiological products for sustainable agriculture.
